Wisdom teeth are the very last (large) molars in the back of the mouth. Because of their size and location, their extraction can sometimes be a little more challenging. They often require attention early on because they may grow at an unusual angle or they are completely buried in the gums or the jaw bone.
We perform wisdom teeth extractions almost on a daily basis. Our office is equipped with the most up-to-date surgical instruments and our doctors and staff are highly trained and experienced. For the more sensitive or more anxious patients we offer nitrous oxide sedation (“laughing gas”), in addition to the usual local anesthetics. Nitrous oxide not only helps patients to relax, it also acts as a mild pain medication. For the majority of patients, the combination of local anesthetic and nitrous oxide tends to provide ample comfort and peace of mind.
